A short summary

Hey! Unfortunately we don't yet have a full-scale article on Libanda. However, here is a short summary of what we know about it so far.

Libanda

Libanda (Líbanda) is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Democratic Republic of Congo.
It doesn’t allow grips on the opponent's garments, and allows grip fighting/changing grips during the match.

Techniques

Regarding Libanda's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.), leg grabs and pins are allowed.

We don't yet have knowledge on whether submission holds and striking are trained or allowed in competition.

Objective

Pin the opponent's back to the ground (for a certain time).

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on grass. We don't yet know what the usual match duration is.

We don't know if any weight classes are established. Neither, if women are allowed to participate in Libanda competitions or not.
