A short summary

Hey! Unfortunately we don't yet have a full-scale article on Dau Vat. However, here is a short summary of what we know about it so far.

Dau Vat

Dau Vat (Đấu Vật) is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Vietnam.
It doesn’t allow grips on the opponent's garments, and allows grip fighting/changing grips during the match.

Techniques

Regarding Dau Vat's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.), leg grabs and pins are allowed, and that submission holds and striking are not utilized.

Objective

Make the opponent's back touch the ground.

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on dirt or sand. We don't yet know what the usual match duration is.

We don't know if any weight classes are established. Neither, if women are allowed to participate in Dau Vat competitions or not.
