A short summary

Hey! Unfortunately we don't yet have a full-scale article on Besua. However, here is a short summary of what we know about it so far.

Besua

Besua is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Cameroon.
It doesn’t allow grips on the opponent's garments, and allows grip fighting/changing grips during the match.

Techniques

Regarding Besua's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.), leg grabs and pins are allowed.

We don't yet have knowledge on whether submission holds and striking are trained or allowed in competition.

Objective

Make the opponent's back touch the ground.

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on sand. We don't yet know what the usual match duration is.

We don't know if any weight classes are established.
Women are allowed to participate in Besua competitions as well.
