Lucha leonesa

Lucha leonesa is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Province of León, Spain.
It allows grips on the opponent's garments, and doesn’t allow grip fighting/changing grips during the match.
The opponent's leather belt is gripped at the beginning of the bout, and is held throughout.

Techniques

Regarding Lucha leonesa's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.) are allowed, and that leg grabs, pins, submission holds and striking are not utilized.

Objective

Points are scored if: (1) the opponent touches the floor with any part of the back (fall; 2 points); (2) the opponent touches the floor otherwise (half fall; 1 point); (3) the opponent's belt is removed (fall; 2 points). The match ends either after one contestant reaches 4 points, or after 2 minutes when it is awarded on points.

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on grass. We don't yet know what the usual match duration is.

There are established weight classes.
We don't know whether it is allowed for women to participate in Lucha leonesa competitions.
