A short summary

Hey! Unfortunately we don't yet have a full-scale article on Tranta. However, here is a short summary of what we know about it so far.

Tranta

Tranta (Trântă; Трынта) is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Moldova; Romania.
It allows grips on the opponent's garments, and allows grip fighting/changing grips during the match.
Grips on the belt are allowed.

Techniques

Regarding Tranta's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.) and leg grabs are allowed, and that submission holds and striking are not utilized.

We don't yet have knowledge on whether pins are trained or allowed in competition.

Objective

Throw the opponent on his back.

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on grass (or a wrestling mat). The match duration is 6 minutes.

There are no established weight classes - you could end up wrestling someone who is twice your size!
We don't know whether it is allowed for women to participate in Tranta competitions.
