Glima
Glima is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Iceland.It allows grips on the opponent's garments, and doesn’t allow grip fighting/changing grips during the match.
Grips are taken (and maintained throughout the bout) on special leather leg-harnesses.
Techniques
Regarding Glima's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.) are allowed, and that leg grabs, pins, submission holds and striking are not utilized.Objective
Make the opponent touch the ground with any part of the body above the knee (except forearm).Competition
The matches traditionally take place on hardwood flooring. The match duration is 2 minutes.We don't know if any weight classes are established.
Women are allowed to participate in Glima competitions as well.
