Lancashire wrestling

Lancashire wrestling is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Lancashire county, England.
It doesn’t allow grips on the opponent's garments, and allows grip fighting/changing grips during the match.

Techniques

Regarding Lancashire wrestling's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.), leg grabs, pins, submission holds and striking are allowed.
At one point, kicks below the knee were allowed.

Objective

Varied a lot at different times - clean throw (throw opponent on his back, while attacker remains standing); pin; submission.

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on a wrestling mat. We don't yet know what the usual match duration is.

There are established weight classes.
Since the 1870's weight classes were introduced.

We don't know whether it is allowed for women to participate in Lancashire wrestling competitions.
