A short summary

Hey! Unfortunately we don't yet have a full-scale article on Bassula. However, here is a short summary of what we know about it so far.

Bassula

Bassula is a traditional wrestling style, originating from Angola.
It doesn’t allow grips on the opponent's garments, and allows grip fighting/changing grips during the match.

Techniques

Regarding Bassula's arsenal of techniques, we know that leg techniques (hooks, sweeps, ect.), leg grabs and submission holds are allowed, and that pins are not utilized.
Standing armlocks are allowed.
We don't yet have knowledge on whether any form of striking techniques are trained or allowed in competition.

Objective

Throw the opponent to the ground or submit him.

Competition

The matches traditionally take place on sand. We don't yet know what the usual match duration is.

We don't know if any weight classes are established. Neither, if women are allowed to participate in Bassula competitions or not.
